1000+ Unread Items -> Mark All As Read
Being offline for a few weeks at a time is disconcerting, especially when I’m only online again for a few days before the cycle repeats. Trying to catch up on news - personal or world-wide - seems damn impossible. News stories seem like balls of wool that need to be unpicked. Loading up Google News just confuses me - Obama jobs thing? Quadaffi what now? The same goes for email or Tumblr streams or… anything, really. (There’s probably a lot that could be said about how ‘Modern Online media Seems To Assume Their Audience Is Always Connected’ but maybe that’s just how it feels.)
Anyhow, the first I knew there was a hurricane in America was when I read Alina’s cookie recipe. I found out that there was a shooting in Norway was when I overheard a German tourist talking about it in a small hiking hut in the middle of nowhere.
So if I owe you email, haven’t hearted your angry post on something or other, or wished you a happy birthday, know that there’s a reason.
