I liked it.
It wasn’t what I thought. It was, mostly, a movie about something I wanted to see explored - the end of the world and how people would react - rather than the slapstick comedy I expected, and it did that (mostly) thoughtfully and well.
Still, it felt like there were quite a few scenes that were written as Carrell-vehicles (and subsequent trailer-fodder). He did act an otherwise serious part well.
