For those who care: I’ve disabled Google Buzz and removed my Google profile. I don’t need another social network, least of all one that ties into my Gmail account.
I’ve also deleted my Foursquare account, so my sincere apologies if you thought we’d bond over our mutual holding of a ‘trophy’ for waiting around in coffeehouses for overpriced lattes while crushing on the surly, slightly indie barista. See, I was under the impression there was a point to it.
If it helps any with your crushing disappointment, know that I’ve mentally awarded you (yes, you) a very special trophy for being the Mayor of “Wasting Your Damn Time Trying To Win Prizes In A System So Arbitrary Just Occupying Space Is A Winning Condition”.
It’s large, sparkly and entirely digital, just like you like them, and if you want I’ll even tell you it’s “rare”, as if that means anything in a system bent on rewarding you for just leaving your damn room.
